The Academy of Education

The Academy of Education represents an independent, non-profit civil corporation with the main focus on life-long learning being on leading to gaining, expanding and preserving expert, cultural and social knowledge.

The Academy of Education constitutes the oldest and the largest institution specializing in educating adults in Slovakia. Almost 200 experts and 3000 Slovak and foreign lectures organized and ran education programs at 41 local branches all over Slovakia.

6198 educational courses were organized for 89 644 participants in 2005 in the following areas:

Re-training: economy, running business, management, services and crafts, social-law activities etc. Language education
Information technologies
Consulting programms for labour market
Specialized competence, work safety and fire precaution
Graduation study
Post graduation study
University study (on cooperation with foreign partners)
Management study
Specialized seminars
Civic education

Thanks to our portfolio, offering training, courses and seminar meetings we were able to attract clients from almost all areas: banking, insurance, industry, education, civil service and many others. Considerable cooperation was assured with the National Labour Office when organizing courses for employees but mainly offering further education courses for job applicants.

The year 2005 was also successful for the Academy of Education in terms of setting and running national and international projects. In cooperation with foreign partners the Academy of Education successfully ran projects within the Socrates program, Leonardo da Vinci program and European Social Fund. A total of 12 projects were approved in 2005 in the Sectoral operational programme for Human resources along with 5 partnerships projects approved by the Community initiative EQUAL, all of them financed by the European Social Fund.

The Academy of Education is a member of the European association for education of adults and is considered to be a respectable institution. It has regular working contacts with partners from other European Union countries. We have been cooperating with partner institutions educating adults in almost all European countries as well as international organizations in educating adults.

Graduates of our courses accredited by the Ministry of Education were given certificates that form relevant documentation of gained education with countrywide validity. We were also licensed with another 27 new accreditations by the Ministry of Education of SR in 2005 and this increased the total number to almost 200. Our graduates were awarded 9932 accredited certificates. In cooperation with foreign institutions, inhabitants of Slovakia were allowed to gain internationally valid certificates in the areas of: information technologies - European Computer Passport (308 graduates in 2005), language courses - The European Language Certificates (127 graduates) and certificates of management - Foundation Award in Management Principles (22 graduates).

The sources are being used effectively. We are a non-profit institution that is not subsidized and as such mainly manages the sources that have been raised by itself. Up to 83 % of our total income represents the income from educational activities. Our motto is: Quality at a reasonable price.
